T-BONE COLLISION CAUSED BY DISTRACTED DRIVER IN AUSTIN, TX
After leaving lunch on Christmas Day, our client was traveling westbound on Highway 71 in Austin, Texas. Our client proceeded to stop at a red light at the US-290 frontage road and Loop 1 (Mopac) intersection. Once the light turned green, our client followed other cars through the intersection.
As our client entered the intersection, another vehicle traveling southbound on the Mopac frontage road approached the intersection. The driver of this vehicle ran a red light, and crashed into the right side of our client’s vehicle. After attempting to flee the scene, the other driver admitted to being distracted by texting. As a result of the collision, our client sustained injuries and damage to her car.
Upon investigation by our team, it was determined that the collision was caused by the negligence of the other driver and included:
- Driving distracted;
- Maintaining an unsafe distance from other vehicles;
- Keeping an improper lookout;
- Traveling at an unreasonable speed given the circumstances;
- Exhibiting inadequate driver attention;
- Taking improper evasive actions to avoid the collision; and
- Choosing to violate safety rules.

Below are some frequently asked questions related to car accidents
Q: What should I do about back pain after a car accident?
A: Did your back start hurting sometime after a car accident? Don’t worry: if you haven’t signed a release of liability with the at-fault driver’s insurance company, there’s a good chance you can still get compensation for pain you start having even months after the accident.
If you start feeling back pain, do not ignore it. Many back injuries can take weeks or even months before they begin manifesting symptoms. Don’t ignore your pain, or else your injury may get worse as time passes. It’s important to seek medical treatment as soon as you begin to feel back pain.
After seeking treatment, you should speak with an attorney about your accident and they may help you understand your options.
Q: What compensation may I seek?
A: If you were injured in an accident, the compensation you may be entitled to can include:
- medical expenses;
- future medical expenses;
- lost wages;
- future lost wages;
- loss of future earning capacity; and
- pain and suffering and emotional distress.
As this is not a definitive list, speak with an attorney to find out more about the compensation to which you may be entitled.
