What Is Progressive Insurance? What Types of Insurance Do They Provide? How Large Are They?
Progressive Insurance is an incredibly popular car insurance company that is constantly advertising across the United States. They market themselves “progressive” and are leaders in car insurance coverage.
Co-founded in 1937 and incorporated in Ohio, Progressive has grown into the third largest insurance carrier and the largest overall commercial auto insurer in the United States. By being this massive, Progressive is able to be heavily involved in many vehicle accident claims. More often than not, Progressive is the insurer that an accident victim must negotiate with to receive compensation for any injuries suffered as a result of an accident.
If you or a loved one has been injured in an accident and expect to negotiate an injury settlement with Progressive Insurance, call Zinda Law Group at (888) 281-6991 for a 100% free case evaluation.

Incorporating a fun-loving and identifiable character into their television commercials gives the impression that Progressive is easy to deal with and will pay claims in a timely and just manner. However, that might not be the case all of the time.
Progressive’s advertisements depict that purchasing insurance coverage is easy, but Progressive conveniently leaves out the fact that convincing them to pay a claim is not equally easy. “Flo” does not play an insurance claims adjuster.
Progressive will likely kick in fast after a claim has been filed. They will use one of their insurance claim adjusters to propose an initial settlement offer based on the damage report.
When you meet with the insurance claim adjuster, they will typically tell you that they will not negotiate beyond the first settlement offer and that you have a limited amount of time to decide on it make before the offer is withdrawn for good.
Unfortunately, this is a common tactic used by insurance companies like Progressive to coerce accident victims into accepting a settlement offer without knowing what their claim is actually worth. The insurance claim adjusters understand that for an accident victim, recovering from a personal injury is stressful enough on its own. Having to deal with a major insurance company like Progressive at the same time increases that stress and can potentially cause an injured victim to accept a settlement amount that is vastly lower than what the claim is actually worth.

Available 24 / 7|Free ConsultationWhy you should never give them a recorded statement
Many insurers will ask you to provide a recorded statement detailing how your accident happened, who was at fault, and whether you suffered any injuries. Progressive is no different. What Progressive is trying to do is get you to admit to something that will either lower your claim’s worth or give Progressive the ability to deny your claim altogether.
Progressive will likely push you to admit that you bear responsibility for the accident or that you were feeling “okay” or “fine” in the aftermath of your accident. If you admit to any fault on the record, Progressive can turn around during negotiations and offer you a much lower settlement offer while reasoning that you admitted to being partially at fault.
Additionally, if you state that you are feeling “okay” or “fine”, Progressive can try to use those statements as justification for offering you a lower amount to cover medical bills incurred from the accident. Progressive will simply say that your statements indicate that it is unclear how injured you were from the accident.
It is important to remember that insurance claim adjusters receive specialized training on how to ask questions that get victims to admit details that will lower the value of a claim. Therefore, it is in your best interest to not agree to providing them a recorded statement.

Available 24 / 7|Free ConsultationWhy they want you to accept their first offer
Progressive prefers to wrap claims up quick and cheap. Their insurance claims adjusters have been known to show up to a victim’s home or the hospital following an accident. This tactic is designed to pressure you into accepting their first settlement immediately.
Progressive knows that if they speak to you before you have the chance to properly evaluate what occurred, your injuries, and the likely costs and fees you will accrue as the result of your car accident, they have a better chance at getting you to accept a settlement offer that is well below your claim’s true value.

Available 24 / 7|Free ConsultationYour claim is worth more than you think
Following your accident, you may initially believe that Progressive should only pay for your injuries and, if your vehicle was damaged, the cost to repair your vehicle. However, by doing so you may be underestimating how much money you should really receive.
For example, you may have pain and suffering as a result of the injuries from your accident. Additionally, if your injuries are severe enough, you may be out of work for months or even years while recovering from the accident.
Medical fees and lost income are just some of the factors for you to consider when determining what your claim is worth. Do not rely on a Progressive insurance claims adjuster to tell you what your claim is worth as they will almost always undervalue your claim’s worth. Instead, hire a personal injury lawyer who will work with you to determine what you are owed as a result of your accident and how best to get Progressive to agree to pay that sum.
How to negotiate with Progressive
Progressive’s insurance claims adjusters thrive when an accident victim is stressed and desperate to receive compensation. Do not give Progressive that advantage. Patience is the best strategy to use when negotiating with Progressive. By not jumping at Progressive’s first offer and instead hiring an experienced lawyer to assist you in finding what the best offer actually is, you will increase your likelihood of obtaining maximum compensation for your injuries.
Why you might have to file a lawsuit to get what you deserve
Typically, the best way to obtain maximum compensation from Progressive after an accident is to file a lawsuit. By hiring a personal injury attorney and filing a claim, Progressive will be aware that you are taking the accident seriously and will not simply accept any offer they propose. Often, once a major insurance company like Progressive is informed that you have started the litigation process, they become flexible with what they are willing to offer you for a settlement.
How long does it take to reach a settlement if done on my own?
While each case is different, the general rule is that it will take longer to reach a settlement if you pursue the issue on your own versus if you hired an attorney to settle on your behalf. That is because insurance companies tend to use tactics that delay your ability to receive a settlement for your injuries. The purpose is to delay the claim long enough to where the statute of limitations applies, effectively ending your ability to file a lawsuit. Delaying can also allow insurance companies to push victims into desperation and frustration.
Zinda Law Group can get a bodily injury settlement much faster
At Zinda Law Group, our personal injury attorneys have the experience and knowledge necessary to properly negotiate with a Progressive insurance claims adjuster so that you receive the compensation you are entitled to efficiently. Our lawyers are aware of Progressive’s well-known delay tactics and will not give into them. If Progressive attempts to delay your claim beyond the statute of limitations, our attorneys will threaten to end negotiations entirely and go to trial.
Without the ability to lowball or delay indefinitely, Progressive will be much more willing to quickly pay you what you are entitled to.
How long does it take Progressive to send the bodily injury settlement check?
There is no exact timeframe that Progressive takes to send a settlement check. Often, after a settlement has been reached, an accident victim can expect to receive their settlement check within six weeks of the agreement.
